Book Cluthes: Definitely Rad
Is Refinery 29 serious? While I love the blog to pieces, the other day they posted on Facebook “Books as Bags: Rad or Bad?” and people were ACTUALLY commenting “Bad” claiming most ‘fashion people’ don’t books. Um REALLY?! I think these clutches are amazing, and yes, I read books and so do lots of fashionable people (hello, remember Natalie Portman?).
Olympia Le Tan makes the one Natalie and Chloe were seen with but if you want to stay under the $350 range, Kate Spade makes some adorable ones as well. However, after poking around a bit, I have to say these ones by ChickLitDesigns on etsy are hands down my favorite, and they are all under $200:

Be still my book-cover-loving heart!!! Check out the rest of her stuff here.
Neons

I’m not usually one to post pictures of my outfits, but now-a-days if you have a blog remotely related to fashion it seems necessary. Anyway, I have totally given into the whole neon trend, which is sort of blinding-ly everywhere these days… But I have actually found it easier to introduce than expected! It’s an awesome alternative to the daily work shirt worn with black pants. As always with a trend, don’t spend too much if you think you’ll only wear it one season. Today I’m wearing my Forever 21 (Yeah and I’m shamelessly admitting I still buy clothes there.) Neon Green Top, with my Theory Tailor Pants, my trusty Micheal Kors Mid-Size Chronograph and OPI’s Hot and Spicy.
Off to Ho Chi Minh city this weekend!
Game of Thrones: House Stark Fashion
Last but not least of the Game of Thrones week… we have House Stark!

My personal favorite, the Stark House! There is something magical about Winterfell and the north: the talking trees, the crypts of old Starks past and of course, the wolves. The end of the first season hinted us that winter is in fact coming, and when it does, the Starks will be prepared.

Game of Thrones: House Lannister Fashion
Continuing the Game of Thrones week… we have House Lannister!

Even though Tyrion is only likeable Lannister, you have to admit this house has some appeal. Whatever Cersei lacks in character she makes up for in appearance. I do have a thing for her high-collared, long-sleeved embellished gowns. Their daggers and spikes are might have started a war, but when a house always pays their debts: they’ll at least have the best looking armor.

Game of Thrones: House Targaryen Fashion
Ok I’m about to take obsession to a new level. If you saw my post yesterday, you’ll know I’m a big fan of Game of Thrones. Since Season 2 just aired, as a tribute, I have created some inspired outfits for any other fashionistas that are fans of the show.
Let’s start with House Targaryen!

Well, ‘House’ Targaryen is now just Daenerys Targaryen. Poor Dany, she’s really been through a lot the first season. When she does return to Westeros with her fire and blood, maybe she’ll dress better. I mean, you have to admit those Dothraki outfits were not fit for a princess such as herself…

Helmut Lang Fall 2012: Game of Thrones

Winter is Coming! I am a huge, huge, nerdy fan of Game of Thrones and the book series. Yesterday, Season 2 started back home and unfortunately, I don’t get HBO in Singapore so while I try to find ways to watch, I find myself dreaming of Game of Thrones fashion. Enter Helmut Lang (a consistent favorite) designed by Nicole and Michael Colovos. The Fall 2012 collection was inspired by the show: high collars, textures and leathers, direwolf grays (House Stark for life!), tree-branch prints reminiscent of the world north of the wall, blazers fit like knight’s armor, and even some red and black paying homage to the Lannisters. Although that model is a spitting image of Dany don’t you think?
As a fan of both GoT and Helmut Lang I have to say: This is totally, completely, satisfyingly awesome!

The Shorts I Live In
I will admit: I have a prejudice against shorts. For someone like me that is 5 feet tall, they are probably the least flattering article of clothing I could think of and I refused to wear them. Mind you, I live in constant 85 degree weather with extreme humidity, 365 days of the year. Yes, I am that girl walking around in black skinny jeans in the blazing heat.
Introducing the shorts that turned my prejudice mind upside down.

The Uniglo Short Chino Trousers. £19.90. (Available at ION Orchard location.)
I know you’re thinking, “Uh, they are just regular shorts,” and you’re totally right, they are! It’s just… I’ve never found a pair that are cute enough to wear out to dinner, long enough to wear to work (but not too long where they start cutting your legs off), casual enough to wear on my weekend trips, and comes in the juiciest salmon pink that goes actually looks great with anything. So naturally, I got them in another color (navy, of course) and might need to go back for more.
On a side note about Uniqlo, they launched their uniglo undercover line which includes some pretty cute effortless casual tunics. In Singapore, find it at the 313 Somerset store, launched March 16th. (I know, I know, I’m trying desperately to catch up!)
The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo on Green Wedding Shoes
I generally try not to just re-post other blogs posts, mostly because I like forcing myself to create creative content instead of staring at it all day… HOWEVER. My girl crush on Rooney Mara must live on. This “Girl with a Dragon Tattoo” Inspiration board on Green Wedding shoes is just to die for.

New York City
Being back (again) in New York City in December was amazing. Good friends, good times and good sights. It really feels just like I never left… the next time I’ll be back will be for my wedding! Here are some shots of the scenery I managed to squeeze in:
By day.
By night.
By sometime in-between.
The Upper West and the Lower East.
Elie Saab Spring Couture Paris 2012
If you are a woman, there is no way in this world you don’t love Elie Saab and dream of wearing one of his creations down the aisle or red carpet or at home just for the hell of it. I would do all three. To all six of these dresses from his Paris show a couple days ago. Of course I’d have to find some sort of red carpet to roll out, but hey thats no problem, there are tons of carpet shops on Arab Street…
How amazing is that sea green and salmon?! Photos from Style.com.
Dior Couture 2012 Paris + Helen Yentus + Albert Camus
Have you seen Dior’s Couture show from Paris?! If you haven’t check it out here. What I love most about this collection is it’s homage to true Christian Dior style: classic black and whites with hourglass 50′s silhouettes. While everyone else is critizing the collection (poor Dior doesn’t really stand a chance after the whole Galliano fiasco!), I really do think it was a beautiful way to bring back the classic Dior name.
While thinking of the 40′s and 50′s, one of my favorite authors Camus came to mind. And of course, my favorite book covers designed by Helen Yentus. I love the simplicity in these, yet somehow they still manage to evoke the dark feeling of the novels. Put two and two together and here are another series of my book/fashion mash-ups.
The Lost Generation Inspiration
I have been feeling a bit uninspired lately but leave it to Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris to change that! Instant inspiration board of things I have been really feeling…

A Lower East Side Night at Verlaine
After an awesome girl’s dinner on a November night at Schillers we headed over to Verlaine as I was desperately missing well-made cocktails.
Do you look this cute from a brain freeze? I think not.
Kristine & Kellie.
Brunettes rule. Aren’t my friends gorgeous?!
My Mace & I.
Kellie got a hold of my camera and took these shots by accident and I sort of love them.
Kellie & Katrina.
Thanks to all my girlfriends for coming out. I desperately needed this trip!
Florida
Florida is a weird place. I swear, if there is a news article about someone doing something stupid, they are ALWAYS from Florida. For example: the physco astronaut mistress, Casey Anthony, the woman who got cement butt injections?! Um yeah.
Florida is also a beautiful place. Maybe I haven’t seen nature in a while but it was so nice to hang out in the ‘burbs for a few days! (Not that we will ever want to live in the ‘burbs.) These are some photos from from a morning walk.
ERIIN. One day. Enough Said.
I don’t think you are ready for how amazing ERIIN is about to be. I am not even ready and the co-founders were nice enough to show me a sneak peak last week over coffee. (That is, after I begged and begged!)
Finally, relatively un-known, cult, up-and-coming contemporary designers from all over Asia being showcased and available to the world. It is about f-ing time!!! If you are into Philip Lim, Alexander Wang, Theory, etc. etc. etc.: you are going to love what ERIIN is going to offer. And the best part about it: free shipping (yes, even to the US) and you’ll never have to worry about wearing the same dress as the girl next to you.
ERIIN launches in one day. NOW you’re ready…
